DPI Construction provides General Contracting Construction, excavation, site utilities, HMA Paving and concrete services across Northern Illinois. How It Started

DPI Construction, formerly known as Dale's Plumbing, was founded in 1984 by Dale Melancen. Dale was a skilled and reliable plumbing contractor in Pecatonica, IL and the surrounding community for many years.

In 2020, Dale sold his plumbing business to his son, Dustin D Melancen and Ryan Hathaway. Their vision was to turn Dale's Plumbing into a general contractor operation focusing on Underground Utilities, Excavation, and Concrete.

In 2022, there were changes to their vision, Jake Schlichting, became part owner, opening up even more doors in the area of public works projects. Also, the Company name changed from Dale's Plumbing to DPI Construction to better reflect the services the Company is providing now.

In 2023, Dustin joined the company full-time, and with that came another opportunity to provide concrete services with a skilled team of individuals.

In 2024, Dave Zimmerman joined our team which opened the doors for a general contracting/building division. With Dave’s expertise there is not a project that the DPI team can not tackle.
